Hordes of youngsters from all over the greater Portland area congregated to a large, cleared property around Fisher Quarry in Vancouver, WA, on May 16 to dig in the dirt during Dozer Day.

In addition to the fun of driving heavy equipment, children enjoyed other Dozer Day activities including articulated hauler rides, children’s fair, face painting, diamond dig, tool dig, kids’ dig, a tire crawl, and a pipe crawl.

Halton, one of the original supporters of the annual event, provided multiple pieces of heavy equipment, as well as employee volunteers to help run the event.

Dozer Day benefits the Parks Foundation, a local non-profit organization with a goal of creating a parks expansion fund to ensure that all neighborhoods have access to parks and green spaces, and providing financial aid to low-income youth.

Halton Sends St. Mary's Boys to Dozer Days

Halton sent 20 boys from St. Mary's Boys to Dozer Days for a day of excitement and tractors! Founded in 1889 as an orphanage for abandoned and wayward children, today St. Mary's offers residential treatment and services to at-risk boys between the ages of 10 and 17 who are emotionally disturbed and behaviorally delinquent. Below are a few thank you letters from the boys. Click on the images to enlarge.
